About Your High School Counselor

A school counselor in Arkansas is a certified teacher who has obtained the minimum of a Master of Education degree. A counselor must complete advanced-degree coursework in the following topics:

  • Human growth and development
  • Counseling theory
  • Individual counseling
  • Group counseling
  • Social and cultural foundations
  • Testing and assessment
  • Research and program evaluation
  • Professional orientation
  • Career development

As your school counselor, I am here to assist students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development. It is my goal to ensure that our students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

My specific goal is that all of our students graduate as a career-ready citizen, whether they pursue a career that requires college, apprenticeship, trade-specific education or on-the-job training.

I follow the ethical and professional guidelines of the American School Counselor Association, the Arkansas School Counselor Association and the Arkansas Department of Education.
